| Diverse and Previously Incompatible Analytical Tools - Now Seamlessly Integrated | ||||||
| One of the major strengths of BioIDE is its support of existing academic data analysis tools. There are a few hundred of genetic analysis software developed by academic researchers as neatly categorized at linkage.rockefeller.edu/soft. Many of those tools share two common characteristics: They deliver state-of-the-art data analysis capabilities in certain aspect, and they are incompatible with other tools. While High Throughput Biology Inc. does not have the capability to develop all those advanced tools, we felt that we could develop clever ways to address the incompatibility issue so that these great tools could enjoy much wider usage. In another word, BioIDE is developed not to compete with academic tools but to help distrubute them. | ||||||
BioIDE supports not only data analysis methods HTB has developed such as Pattern Examiner method for gene-gene interaction but more importantly, a growing list of popular academic analytical tools, such as:
Once a researcher has any of those tools installed, s/he can be ensured that any data s/he has loaded into BioIDE, no matter what format they are in originally, can be analyzed using those tools. Even better, creating a data analysis pipeline containing a cascade of those previously incompatible tools becomes straightforward and effortless, using simple drags and drops. |

| It is extremely important to note that BioIDE does not claim any right over third-party software. The author of a third-party software retains all the rights and intellectual property over the software. In fact, BioIDE has a novel software license management system in place to help third-party software authors manage the licensing of their software as well as payment options, which are usually lacking as of today for most academic software. | ||||||
| Rich Collection of Data Visualization Widgets - Now Seamlessly Integrated | ||||||
| "A picture worths a thousand words". Given the abundance of biomedical data, multi-facet data/result visualization can go a long way to help reearchers understand and interpret results. BioIDE contains a large and growing collection of data/result visualization widgets as shown in the example screenshots below. The beauty of BioIDE is that a researcher can elect to associate any visualization widgets with any data, again with only simple drags and drops. | ||||||

| Dynamic Access to Rich Biological Annotation - Now Seamlessly Integrated | ||||||
| Upon a successful run of data analysis with exciting results, the next thing a researcher asks is: What is the biological relevance of the results? Currently, the researcher normally has to search through many web-based resources to piece together fragments of information from those resources. Not anymore. | ||||||
BioIDE provides one-click access to abundant biological annotation resources and cross-referencing among markers, genes, and diseases. Instead of scanning the web, which will take a lot of time and effort, now researchers can have at their finger tips a growing list of biological annotation resources. |
